A star-studded ensemble opens our season with a programme tracing the line from Schumann to his protégé Brahms and, in turn, to Brahms’s protégé Alexander von Zemlinsky. It was at Brahms’s insistence that Zemlinsky’s Clarinet Trio of 1896 was published, setting the young composer on the road to success.
